How do you work out your charges?

I charge by the hour and proofread at an approximate rate of 2,000 words per hour depending on the degree of editing required. Please contact me for a personalised quote.

How do you receive payment?

I am happy to receive payment by bank transfer or PayPal. Payment is normally upon completion of the work, however for a lengthy piece of work, e.g. a PhD thesis, payment by instalments is normally required.

What does your service include?

Besides checking grammar, punctuation, spelling and consistency of style, my service includes editing and re-ordering lengthy sentences and paragraphs to improve the flow and clarity of the work.

In what format do you receive and complete the work?

Generally work is completed using Microsoft Word's 'Track Changes' feature, enabling you to see the highlighted changes. I also work on PowerPoint presentations and on PDF documents, using the comment and markup tools.

How much notice do you need?

In the case of a lengthy piece of work it is obviously necessary to book in advance but RG Proofreading offers a flexible personal service and always attempts to respond to last minute requests, including offering an 'out-of-hours' service. This may incur an additional charge.

Can you undertake a piece of academic writing on my behalf?

Definitely not! This would be unethical and would break universities' strict rules on plagiarism. It is advisable to check with your supervisor what level of editing is permissible.
